Filthy Pig

He wasn't even there...
He didn't bring a briefcase full of money.
He didn't bribe anyone with the alledged money.
He didn't delivered it to politicians.
In fact, he wasn't even there!

Biker Groundhog

I was going for an early car driver, than I had the idea: "Why not make him a biker?"

Hre are some concept sketches. I first looked for some references of a groundhog. That's not an animal I see every day. Then I tried different outfit elements and poses to try to stablish the character and personality.

How come Moebius is Gone?

What now? Moebius is no longer with us. The world is boring now. It's a sad, sad day. We're running out of geniuses... There will be no more of him and the worlds he created.

Today, Jean Jiraud died of cancer in France at the age of 73. He left thousands of orfans (myself included) that have been inspired by his visions and unique styles. How many of us have become artists because of an image rendered through his fingers?

Moebius was so important that we can say without exaggeration that the world of Visual Arts can be divided in before Moebius and after Moebius! I've never thought of after Moebius is gone...

I've always knew that having Moebius as a reference is to aim at something you'll never reach.

I've met him once. I was so overwhelmed to be in his presence that I could hardly speak. I was in front of THE very Master of the line and I couldn't say a word. He smiled at me and we shook hands and I could eventually say that I was the greatest fan and it was a pleasure to meet him. He smiled again and he was engulfed by the crowd.

Here's a documentary for those who want to know more about the man behind the genius...

I pray he is now flying towards the wonderful worlds he envisioned and what has left for us is to grieve and bid him farewell...

Marcio Paes

Pura poesia...

Peter de Sève, brilliant as usual...

"Easy being green, it is not."

Peter de Sève (www.peterdeseve.com) has been one of my favorite Illustrators for a long time.
His work have a huge impact on me for so long that I used to think he's older. Well, he is only 9 years older then myself. The fact that he is outstanding since youth only makes us admire his talent even more.
Here are two of the dearest Animated Characters ever created in a scene only Peter's mind could bring to us. The idea is hilarious! I had to share it!!!!

Frazetta is gone...

Sad... The MASTER of Fantasy Art and Illustration, Frank Frazetta has passed away. He is ( yes, he still is ) the single most influent Illustrator of his generation and we can see traces of his style in several great Illustrators' work to this day. I am sure we'll continue to see those traces troughout the years yet to come. Frazetta's influence on me began when I was a kid and will be here as long as I'm able to draw.

My sympathy to the family and friends for their loss.

Conan the Destroyer. One of my favorite pieces of one of my favorite characters. You can see more of his work here...
