OSS!

How come Moebius is Gone?

What now? Moebius is no longer with us. The world is boring now. It's a sad, sad day. We're running out of geniuses... There will be no more of him and the worlds he created.

Today, Jean Jiraud died of cancer in France at the age of 73. He left thousands of orfans (myself included) that have been inspired by his visions and unique styles. How many of us have become artists because of an image rendered through his fingers?

Moebius was so important that we can say without exaggeration that the world of Visual Arts can be divided in before Moebius and after Moebius! I've never thought of after Moebius is gone...

I've always knew that having Moebius as a reference is to aim at something you'll never reach.

I've met him once. I was so overwhelmed to be in his presence that I could hardly speak. I was in front of THE very Master of the line and I couldn't say a word. He smiled at me and we shook hands and I could eventually say that I was the greatest fan and it was a pleasure to meet him. He smiled again and he was engulfed by the crowd.

Here's a documentary for those who want to know more about the man behind the genius...

I pray he is now flying towards the wonderful worlds he envisioned and what has left for us is to grieve and bid him farewell...

NY Giants wins Super Bowl XLVI

Congratulations to the NY Giants! Once again I had the pleasure to see them winning! What a game! The Patriots and, specially, Tom Brady played extremely well and both teams and QB are outstanding. That makes being a NY Giants fan even better. They defeated THE BEST!

Steve Jobs is gone...

Excellence. If I had to describe Steve Jobs in one word it would be excellence. Despite all of his qualities the one that impresses me most and the one that will be missed most is his absolute obssession for excellence.
Steve would constantly and obssessively seek the outstanding. The merely good is not, and should never be enough.

People usually seek perfection (do they?) by trying to cut off every bit of imperfection, wich is good but, by doing so, they become experts in finding and getting rid of imperfection and this is not the same thing as finding greatness.

The greatest Bull Terrier breeder of modern times used to state that (in a dog) the biggest flaw is not having one great quality. Don't focus on the flaws but rather strive to get one great quality. This is the secret of achieving excellence.

I believe that Steve's legacy is excellence. Let us hope that the companies he left behind do not forget this.
The world is in desperate need of people who seek excellence and Steve's passing away is a hell of a loss in the war against mediocrity.

I'll continue to think different for as long as I'm here but it won't be the same without him instigating human beings to do so.

Farewell and thanks for everything.

To Fabio Amaral

These songs were on his desk on the day he passed away. I sincerely hope he finds, at last, what he was seeking. May God embrace him.

Sailing

I am sailing, I am sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

I am flying, I am flying,
like a bird 'cross the sky.
I am flying, passing high clouds,
to be with you, to be free.

Can you hear me, can you hear me
thro' the dark night, far away,
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.

Can you hear me, can you hear me,
thro' the dark night far away.
I am dying, forever trying,
to be with you, who can say.

We are sailing, we are sailing,
home again 'cross the sea.
We are sailing stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.

Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free.
Oh Lord, to be near you, to be free,
Oh Lord.

Rod Stewart

Sailing

Well, it's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right
You can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never-never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right
You can find the joy of innocence again
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Yust you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Fantasy, it gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

Sailing takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

Well it's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right
you can sail away and find serenity
Oh, the canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

Sailing takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free
